Alberto Espinoza, DPA, has been working in the public sector for over 17 years. His professional experience spans city, county, and state service. He is currently employed full-time as a Management Analyst II with the City of Belmont, CA. Alberto is integrating his love for the public sector with his passion of teaching the next generation of public service professionals.

He holds a Doctor of Public Administration from the University of La Verne, a Master of Public Administration from California State University – Northridge, and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from California State University – Fullerton. His graduate-level academic experience is in public administration, public budgeting, intergovernmental relations, collaborative governance, and public policy analysis. He is a member of the American Society for Public Administration and a member of the Project Management Institute.

Alberto values the practical approach to learning as one of the main methods for comprehension and retention of concepts. He firmly believes that students learn best when they apply, experiment, and engage with other students in the course concepts to real-world situations. From his experience, the practical approach to learning enhances the students’ problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

In his spare time, Alberto enjoys cooking and doing fun outdoor activities such as playing tennis, hiking, and traveling.
