As a proud native of the San Francisco Bay Area, I spent 22 years of my 27-year career in human resources in the public sector. In 2022 I retired as the Director of Human Resources and Labor Relations in a local government agency. As HR Director, I was responsible for all human resources and labor relations functions including contract negotiations, strategic planning, employee engagement, organizational development, workers' compensation, recruitment and retention, classification and compensation, COVID-19 response, and have I a particular passion for diversity, equity and inclusion. With 22 years of bargaining experience, I served as chief negotiator at all bargaining tables including police and fire. I earned a B.A. degree in Liberal Studies with a minor in Business Administration and an MPA at Cal State University, East Bay. In addition, I served a number of professional organizations including the League of California Cities and serve on the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of IPMA-HR. I was a longtime member of the California Public Employers Labor Relations Association (CALPELRA) serving on the Board of Directors for several years, most recently as CALPELRA's 2022 Board President. I am now excited to share my experience as a lecturer in the SFSU MPA program.
