PACE Faculty in Service to its Community

The School of Public Affairs & Civic Engagement is a collaborative interdisciplinary unit whose faculty builds on an ethos of social justice and sustainability to enhance individual and organizational capacity in the public and nonprofit sectors.  The PACE Faculty exemplify community engagement through their service to organizations in the Bay Area and beyond.  In 2023, PACE faculty took on several new leadership roles with community and professional organizations.

  • Sheldon Gen was elected Vice President of the Board of Directors for Point Blue Conservation Science, the leading environmental science and policy organization focused on climate-smart conservation.
  • Jennifer Shea was elected Vice Chair of the Community & Grassroots Association section of the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA)
  • Janey Wang was appointed to the Association of Budgeting & Financial Management Seat of the Measure RR Bond Oversight Committee for Bay Area Rapid Transist (BART)
  • Darlene Yee was appointed to the California Department of Aging’s ADRC Advisory Committee; elected to California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform’s Board of Directors as Vice President; and appointed to the Health Plan of San Mateo’s CareAdvantage Advisory Committee.
