The School of Public Affairs & Civic Engagement has announced the addition of four new ADT pathways in social justice, political science, sociology, law, and policy, approved for Urban Studies and Planning, effective Fall 2024. These pathways offer students who enroll in an Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) program at a California Community College the opportunity to transfer to SF State and graduate with only 120 units.

The 4 ADT pathways for USP are now listed on the CSU website (www.calstate.edu) and align with approximately 300 combinations of ADT majors at over 100 community colleges.

The California Community Colleges (CCC) offer Associate in Art for Transfer (AA-T) and Associate in Science for Transfer (AS-T) degrees, two-year programs that are fully transferable to the CSU and consist of no more than 60 semester units or 90 quarter units. With these Associate Degrees for Transfer (ADT), also known as a Degree with a Guarantee, students who meet the CSU’s minimum eligibility requirements are guaranteed priority admission to a CSU campus, though not necessarily to a specific campus or major.

Through an ADT program, students can earn both their associate’s degree and bachelor’s degree with only 120 units if they transfer into a program at the CSU similar to the one they completed at a California Community College. Prospective or current students at a California Community College are encouraged to visit the college’s transfer center or speak with a counselor to explore available AA-T and AS-T degrees and develop a transfer plan within the ADT program.

Enrolling in an Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) program at a California Community College (CCC) enables students to transfer to a CSU and graduate with only 120 units. There are two types of ADT programs: Associate in Art for Transfer (AA-T) and Associate in Science for Transfer (AS-T). To complete your CSU degree with 120 units, you need to select a bachelor’s program similar to the one in which you earned your associate’s degree at the community college.

Use the search tool to find a community college offering an AA-T or AS-T program you’re interested in. Begin by selecting the major you’re interested in below, then choose the nearby community college(s). Alternatively, you can select "all CCCs" to view all programs across California.

If you select "Search by CSU," you can see which campuses offer a program similar to the ADT program you want to complete or have completed.
